Concerning the enormous budget they had, L’Illusionniste didn’t come up to my expectations story- and narration-wise. It’s an art movie and with this in mind, it definitively delivers beautiful pictures one after another. The well-done animation is a bow to Jacques Tati. The emotional ending componsates for some of the more undirected, lazy and episodic elements of the movie. All in all, still worth a look.
