Was on a small walk outside last evening and decided to call my sister for a small chit chat about ordinary things. She wasn’t at home and told me, that she was on a concert instead. She said: „Why don’t you come over, too? It’s even free!“. I decided, that this might be a good idea for letting the day fade out. So I put my things together and went to STOA – on the other end of the city, which is a nice place to be there even when there’s no concert, by the way.
Turns out, the man singing songs was Alasdair Bouch. I heard his CD once at my sister’s place and was already impressed by his performance back then. I liked in particular, that -while most songs are singer-songwriter songs where you can listen to lyrics and music carefully- the songs still work ambient as well, just spreading positive vibrations all around. The same was true for this evening. There were not many listeners but still Alasdair gave a great performance and at the end, everybody just felt happy. What better result you could have after a concert?
Alasdair is not using a coach. He’s hitchhiking for his European tour with a guitar and a rucksack. He’s using couchsurfing as place to stay and he’s performing at many different types of places, often free of charge, selling his CDs and spreading love. He hangs around with the audience after a gig and seems to meet new friends everywhere he goes. On his posters, there is „Today!“ written instead of the date. „By this, I can use them again“, he says. He’s living on a small scale, and all for the music. And if it’s even just for that, he deserve recognition.
So check him out. And if you happen to live near Nürnberg – his last concert will be there. In a cake shop! Now, how cool is that?
Eintritt gegen kleine Spende in jeder Höhe. 🙂
