Traunstein is the highest mountain on the east bank of the Traunsee Lake. There are two lodges on top, but no easy route is leading up the sometimes vertical walls, you need to climb at least a little bit. So it’s a challenge to hike up the 1250 meters in height. As I’m a pussy we took one of the easier hikes. Better safe than sorry!
It’s totally worth it: Our sleeping place was amazing with window views over the lake, nearly no visitors, very nice and welcoming inn keepers and tasty food, great sunsets and a lot of trusting mountain chamois! Will be back for sure sometime!
