Space Mountain go home!
Space Fantasy in Universal Studios Japan is coming pretty close to what I’ve always demanded from a real theme park attraction: It’s (german-made) roller coaster, combined with spinning, combined with dark-ride-effects, combined with great onride-soundtrack, combined with interactivity, combined with great characters, combined with a layout that follows the story rather than the latest ride-records and above all a very well balanced dramaturgy with a whole lot of immersion. Probably, we’re closer to the day, where the ingredients of amusement attractions are combined to unique dramaturgy and emotions, than I thought of.
On the other hand, it’s Universal. And it’s Japan.
Here is a Video from the climax of the whole experience (that is much larger than just this „mission“ in the video). The reason why the guy is holding the hand before the lens, is because it’s strictly forbidden to make video captures during the ride. The guy tried it anyway so we have a small glimpse of what Space Fantasy looks like – even if it’s a little blurry and fast.
