In celebration of the relaunch of GipfelReisen.de I will post seven of my most favorite hiking videos for the coming week.
The Munich Oktoberfest is also know as „Vomit Fest“. What could be better then to leave Munich in order to visit a mountain the is called „Am Kotzen“ („Vomiting„). As always, I found it on a map, surounded by lot’s of other „Vomit“ thing, like the „Vomit Gorge“ or „Vomit Cirque“. I had to go there. However, the tour turned out not at all as something to vomit.
I wanted to combine it with a larger experience of a higher mountain top, so we combined the trip with a walk over a mountain ridge (Minute 0:30) towards the Reither Spitze, reachable via a high alpine trail (3:10). It’s part of the „Karwendel“ mountains, offering the most fascinating views of mountains primarily constructed out of lime! It’s so much rockwork everywhere (4:30)! As there is also a cableway leading up, this part is still heavily crowded.
It all changes when we walked down some steep trails to the other side of the Reither Spitze (5:30) towards a lodge (6:45) and into the area of the so-called „origin towers“. Nobody was taking that route and there was no civilization to be seen or heard anymore anywhere. Spooky! (8:00)
We were at „Vomiting“ at minute 9:50. A trail into a surreal world of chalk massifs. Finally down again, we found an abandoned head of a valley (10:20) close to a small river that leads us back to the civilization. „Spitze“ means „peak“, but it also can mean „marvelous“ – and that is was it was!
