As every new year, I went tobogganing to the mountain shelter „Priener Hütte“ in der Bavarian Alps in January of 2011 again. Here is my yearly report. Click on the pictures to enlarge.
The weather was less sunny as the years before and there were more people. Still, the route is nice and inspiring.
Some impressions. I know I messed up the white balance. Reason for this is easy. As I wear glasses, they film over immediately when I stop walking and make me basically take pictures blindless.
We’re have the way through on this one. Weather was getting better as soon as I had passed the darker clouds below me.
One thing I like about winter touring is the friendliness of people. Actually, there is no one that doesn’t say at least ‚Hi‘.
Nearly there. The more you get on top of the mountain, the more quiet its atmosphere gets. I like this route. There are no skiing lifts, no primed slopes. Only some sledge riders like myself and people making ski touring.
Getting on top, listening to the sough of the wind in the trees and just enjoying nature far away from traffic, noise and hustle gives me the creepes – in a positive way. I was not in a good condition but it’s always nice when you reach the end of your tour.
Someone didn’t make it though. When I reached the peak, there was someone transported away in a helicopter.
After some soup and a drink, it was my sledge’s turn for the part back.
It was a difficult tour this time. Lane grooves, other people and pretty much snow on the road stressed my sledge quite intensively. During the trip down, the left horn broke and it was difficult to keep the speed up. Nevertheless, it was again a great trip and worth the long drive through the traffic jam.
If you’re interested in some moving pictures, you can try out these images taken during the tour:
And of course, as always, the comparison with the last three years…

Cowboymusik schießt den Vogel ab! ^-^ Merci!
Immer noch kein Schnee in Vienna?
So lala.
